Cambria Press Book Review – Perennial Empires: Postcolonial, Transnational, and Literary Perspectives

Cambria Press Perennial Empires Postcolonial, Transnational, and Literary Perspectives

Cambria Press congratulates Professors Chantal Zabus and Silvia Nagy-Zekmi on the recent excellent review by Transnational Literature on Perennial Empires: Postcolonial, Transnational, and Literary Perspectives.

The journal praises “this welcome collection of essays” because it “is a salutary reminder that imperialism, far from having ended some time in the last century, is still with us.” The review further adds that “the argument, as this volume makes clear, is not about choosing between a ‘“smooth” space of empire’ and the singular nation-state, but instead about the messy middle in which we recognise the strategic, dialogical need for both rootedness and migrancy.”

The book, which was published by Cambria Press in 2011, was also very well received at the 2012 MLA annual convention.
