CNN asks Cambria Press author Robert Alexander to weigh in on the 2013 government shutdown.

Since the publication of his book last year, Cambria Press author Robert Alexander has been sought out for his expertise on political matters. He was consulted by CNN and NPR about the presidential races and more recently he has been been requested by CNN to weigh in on the government shutdown.

Dr. Alexander declared that the first U.S. president’s “dislike for political parties still fits with the reality in which most Americans live today,” referring with much insight to George Washington’s farewell address in which he warned of the “frightful despotism” that results from the “alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension.”

Dr. Robert Alexander concluded his thought-provoking article with a message–which George Washington himself would echo–to fellow Americans that “for the sake of the country and the world economy, let us hope that our representatives begin to see themselves as Americans, rather than Democrats and Republicans.”
