We at Cambria Press offer our deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, founding father of Singapore and one of the greatest leaders in history. In his article “Lee Kuan Yew: Why Singapore’s Extraordinary Leader Will Be Missed, ” Steve Forbes wrote that Mr. Lee “made Singapore an economic powerhouse, demonstrating that so-called natural resources aren’t necessary for prosperity, that the key is creating an environment in which human ingenuity can thrive” and President Tony Tan noted that “few have demonstrated such complete commitment to a cause greater than themselves.” Mr. Lee was unafraid of going against the grain and, against all odds, raised Singapore from a small fishing village to the global force it is today. Opinions on him are divided, but these accomplishments cannot be disputed. Few have attempted what Mr. Lee has done, and even fewer have succeeded. Mr. Lee will be missed but he will continue to inspire many to push forward through challenging times and to be practical, to adopt “a very matter-of-fact approach to the problem” and recognize that “the task of the leaders must be to provide or create for them [their people] a strong framework within which they can learn, work hard, be productive and be rewarded accordingly. And this is not easy to achieve” (The Singapore Story: Memoirs of Lee Kuan Yew). Thank you and rest in peace, Mr. Lee. –Toni Tan, Director of Cambria Press
