Attendance at this year’s convention was high. Many attendees flew in from other countries to attend sessions; of this group of international participants, we were very pleased to have Professor Liu Jianmei (University of Maryland) who is currently teaching for the year at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and is on the editorial board of the Cambria Sinophone World Series.
Professor Liu’s book, which she coedited with Dr. Ann Huss (also on the editorial board), The Jin Yong Phenomenon: Chinese Martial Arts Fiction and Modern Chinese Literary History has been praised by CLEAR for being “a successful study of Jin Yong’s literature with valuable and insightful opinions” and “a pleasure to read.”
